MAXIMALISM has arrived!

Amaranthe will kick off their first North American headline tour in support

of their latest album Maximalism on February 10 in Houston, with support

from Failure Anthem, Citizen Zero, Cypher 16, and Smash Into Pieces.

The trek snakes through the U.S. and Canada, wrapping on March 11 in

Reading, Pennsylvania.

To herald the fact that they will be crashing the U.S. shores once again,

the band has released the new video for "Boomerang." Watch it here:

Guitarist Olof Morck says "It is finally time to release our brand new video

for 'Boomerang', an Amaranthe take on the classic heist movie! Directed by

the legendary Patric Ulleaus, it is everything you have come to expect of an

Amaranthe video and much more! Perhaps the most ambitious video from the

band so far, it is packed to the brim with action, glitter and glamour - you

can try to bring us down, but we'll come around, like a Boomerang!"

In other Amaranthe news, singer Jake E. has confirmed his exit from the

band. Below is his statement on the matter.

"After eight years and four albums, I have decided to leave Amaranthe. I am

extremely proud of the band and what we've accomplished together.

"Amaranthe have the most AMAZING fans and they have given me so much during

the years, which I am extremely grateful for. I want to thank them all for

always supporting me during the highs and the lows - without YOU we would be

"Thank you for these years and I hope to meet you again soon!"

New album 'MAXIMALISM' out in October! Album cover and track listing revealed!
Amaranthe, the cutting edge outfit with the triple-lead-vocal attack, can now reveal the title, artwork & arrival date for their latest studio album – the follow-up to 4s breakthrough Massive Addictive release…
Titled 'Maximalism' and due out via Spinefarm Records on October 21st, this hyper-modern, metallic beast of a record is the bands fourth since first joining forces back in 8; produced once again by Jacob Hansen (Volbeat, Epica, Delain) and mastered by Svante Forsback (Rammstein, Apocalyptica, Dragonforce), it sees the Swedish / Danish sextet delivering 12 new tracks that fully live up to the bigger, bolder promise of the title.   Refusing to be pinned down by genre or convention, Amaranthe have consistently pursued the less travelled path, blending different sounds and styles to create a signature hybrid approach, and Maximalism sees their collective wide-angle vision laid out with greater skill and conviction than ever before.
From the locomotive power of Faster & Fury through to the more measured drama of Limitless & Endlessly (a solo tour-de-force for singer Elize Ryd), this is Amaranthe ramping up both the energy and the emotion, and generally pushing everything To The Max….

Says lead guitarist, Olof Morck:-
Maximalism’ is our manifesto to the world! We are genuinely thrilled with the new material, definitely our most diverse collection to date; our trademark bleeding edge modern metal remains intact, of course, but fused with an even broader range of genres than before… theres everything here including stadium rock, innovative pop and danceable super-hits. Expect these tunes to enter your mind on a permanent basis!
The track-listing for Maximalism is as follows:-
01. Maximize
02. Boomerang
03. That Song
04. 21
05. On The Rocks
06. Limitless
07. Fury
08. Faster
09. Break Down And Cry
10. Supersonic
11. Fireball
12. Endlessly

In support of Maximalism, Amaranthe embark on a headline European tour in October / November, with Sonic Syndicate & Smash Into Pieces guesting on all shows. US & UK tour dates will be revealed shortly.

AMARANTHE's 2014 recap!
 Hey all!

AMARANTHE usually look in one direction only - forward. But, as a tradition, once a year I, Olof, write this chronicle to get a small overview of what has transpired the last 12 months.
It has indeed been a fantastic year for AMARANTHE, with a colossal journey around the world, a new album release, a new singer, and of course - meeting so many lovely new AMARANTHE fans!
As usual, once you start to pick the year apart it becomes quite overwhelming.
Words say much and so do pictures, but before we start, let's create a general overview in naked figures:

1 album release
1 single release
6 album chart positions around the world
#1 on Billboard heatseekers charts in USA
#1 on the rock album charts in Sweden
#1 on the alternative charts in Finland, and
#6 on the official Finnish album charts
#2 on the international Japanese album charts
20 million ca streams on Spotify
20 million ca streams on YouTube
ca 80 shows around the world
ca 200 days of traveling
3 months spent recording 'MASSIVE ADDICTIVE'

So how did the year start? Well, it started (apart from a couple of Swedish warm-up shows) with something of a tradition of ours - in Finland!

We kicked off things in style and had the pleasure of returning to the first venue, Nosturi, we played in Helsinki, when we also first met our future label, Spinefarm. Nostalgic - but the stage and the whole audience area had shrunk noticably! A side effect of being spoiled I guess. We also had the pleasure of returning to old hunting grounds in Turku.

Another tradition of ours is the Bandit Rock awards, where we were nominated for a whole bunch of categories, but a couple of small bands such as In Flames happened to be nominated in the same categories. Oh well, we'll get them this year! At least Elize picked up and awards as role model of the year!

For those about to jump!

Another warm up show in Sweden, and we were ready to hit the road for our very own INVINCIBLE tour 2014, along with our friends in Deals Death and Smash into Pieces! Our second tour in support of "The Nexus" album, and our very first headline tour in Europe! You are always slightly nervous when you are headlining new territories for the first time, and we weren't at all sure what to expect!

Look there's lots of people yay!

The tour turned out to be a resounding success, with nearly all places packed close to capacity! Lots of familiar venues that we have played before with pretty big main acts, so it was an honour for us to take the stage as a headliner. Our friends in the support bands made sure they were warm every night! Thanks to all of you European AMARANTHE fans, see you this spring!

Europe is pretty! The continent, not the band. Here; Prague

A special honour for us was returning to the UK and London after almost 2 years of absence, and we also got to perform a bit further north for the first time; Nottingham and Wolverhampton. London was a bit extra magical, but you others were not far behind - see you in the spring too!

We'll be back soon Europe!

No rest for the wicked! While on tour in Europe we finished up the last new songs, so we could enter the studio pretty much directly, to record our new album - 'MASSIVE ADDICTIVE'! Once again we emigrated to Denmark, and Jacob Hansen's studio, but this time around we had good weather in a beautiful medieval city instead of complete isolation in the frozen tundra, like the last couple of times.

Jacob is excited and ready to go!

We enjoyed a pretty smooth recording, and the days passed on slowly as our new little baby started to take shape - speaking of;

"Don't worry Olof, I've got this"

The hours in the studio are often long, and sometimes endless. But a few days now and then we had the opportunity to get away from the studio for a bit, and among other things we got to visit one of the most epic beaches we have seen!

No caption needed!

In the end, everything fell into place magnificently, and we are still extremely proud of the results of recording 'MASSIVE ADDICTIVE'! Easily our smoothest and best album recording experience so far. But at this point, it was time to exit the studio for some festivals and a pretty big show in Sweden!

Thank you Jacob!!

We kicked off the festival season at the Swedish Metalallsvenskan, followed by additional festival shows in Croatia, Finland, Estonia and a bunch of other places. Right in the middle of the summer we also had one of our biggest shows of 2014 - opening for Avenged Sevenfold at Scandinavium arena, right here in our hometown of Gothenburg! It was a dream come true to play this venue with AMARANTHE, and as you can see a bunch of people showed up!

Continuing on our path for domination in Sweden, we hooked up with the SABATON guys, and kicked of a shorter tour around the country, playing a bunch of new cities in our home town. A truly great experience, both on and off stage!

Not sure if all these people are and actual audience, or if they are laying siege to the fort just next to us??

Sticking to usual AMARANTHE tradition, our first single from 'MASSIVE ADDICTIVE', Drop Dead Cynical, needed a spanking and epic new video to it. MMA fighters, cheerleaders, lots and lots of fire, and the direction of Patric Ullaeus ensures that we could not go wrong.

Johan is part time violent.

After some more festivals in Slovakia, Finland, Czech republic and so on, we had the pleasure to play in Norway for the first time in years - a sold out show in Oslo and a manical crowd in Bryne ensured that AMARANTHE will return shortly!

Around here most people would probably have opted for a vacation - we opted for TWO full US tours, with a stop in Mexico and Japan! A MASSIVE adventure to kick of a Massive album!

We had the absolute honour of joining Within Temptation on their USA tour, which started of in San Fransisco and ended up in Boston! WT had not perfomed in the US for quite some time, and there was a lot of buzz and excitement around that tour indeed. We had a bunch of highlights, maybe most of all Montreal! Expect us to be back very soon.

Two bands on stage in a haunted house; WIthin Temptation and Amaranthe at the Palladium, Worcester (Boston)

Next up was Japan, and the mighty LOOUDPARK! Since we had performed there in 2011, we had a hunch what to expect - absolute epicness, and thousands upon thousands of Japanese fans! It was an unforgetable experience, and you Japanese fans can of course expect us back very soon.

Here we come JAPAN!

An AMARANTHE first awaited us this time - Mexico! We had heard the stories and rumours of the excitement of the crowd over there, and we were NOT disappointed! Truly one of the more passionate audiences this year. Thanks to our friend Jorge, a few of us also got to visit one of the greatest pyramid complexes in the world; Teotihuacan!

AMARANTHE goes Indiana Jones!

Quite simultaneously as our second US tour leg, it was time for our album release, finally! Early in the tour we were greeted by the fantastic news, that we had hit the no. 1 spot on Billboard's Heatseeker's charts, which of course meant cake and champagne!

The cake is absolutely not a lie!

Ending our American adventure was a shorter headline tour in the south and southwest, starting in Dallas and ending in Atlanta. Our first time there as well, and we were greeted very warmly by you southernerns, thanks a million for that.

The Dallas show was Batman-approved.

Following such an epic journey, we went to Czech republic for a third time this year, and not one time too much - Winter's Masters of Rock was a real treat! We also played a couple of headline shows in Sweden shortly after, making a triumphant return to Henrik's hometown of Stockholm!

Something like a Christmas dinner  backstage in Örnsköldsvik

Now, only two shows remained - St. Petersburg and Moscow! Anyone who attended the shows know they were absolute nuts, in all the right ways! St. Petersburg was my (Olof's) birthday, which ended up with a lot of cake on stage and some lovely singing, and we even had a flash mob appearing with the lyrics to Amaranthine. Wow! Moscow was a notch even crazier, and it did certainly not disappoint as the LAST SHOW OF THE YEAR!

The cake is DEFINITELY not a lie! Neither is Jake's hat.

And that pretty much wraps up this chronicle of 2014! THANK YOU so very much for a great year, and see you all THIS year - 2015!

/Olof, on behalf of AMARANTHE

'MASSIVE ADDICTIVE' out now worldwide!
New single 'Drop Dead Cynical' out now!
The first single from the third album MASSIVE ADDICTIVE is out now!

Commented guitarist Olof Mörck: “The first piece of music to be released from ‘Massive Addictive’ is a very representative track. ‘Drop Dead Cynical’ is as massive as it is addictive. This ultra groovy song is a markedly different first single compared to classical Amaranthe single choices, and it takes our trademark sound in fresh and exciting new directions! Top that off with an anthemic chorus, and the result is what I consider one of the absolutely strongest Amaranthe songs ever!”
'MASSIVE ADDICTIVE' is out on Oct 15th (Japan), Oct 17th (Europe), Oct 20th (UK), Oct 21st (USA),

AMARANTHE to release MASSIVE ADDICTIVE; new album on October 21!
Full press release and track list below!

(New York, NY)
: Gothenburg, Sweden's AMARANTHE, known for fusing melodic metal with elements of EDM, will release their third album MASSIVE ADDICTIVE viaSpinefarm Records on October 21.

is true to its title. The band's signature, larger-than-life sound, comprised of kinetic riffing, pulsating beats and celestial, melodic choruses, remains in tact, but the album finds AMARANTHE continuing to explore a range of dynamics and with a willingness to push themselves even further.

The songs that populate MASSIVE ADDICTIVE are so incredibly catchy that they will take up residency in your brain for hours after you've turned the music off and you will find yourself humming the melodies or singing the choruses long after you've stopped listening to them. MASSIVE ADDICTIVE is that memorably and that catchy.

was tracked at Hansen Studios in Ribe, Denmark with the sound sorcerer Jacob Hansen (Volbeat, Epica) at the helm.

The 12-song album is a flawlessly executed clinic of masterfully and carefully crafted European metal, boasting Olof Mörck's surgically precise riffs and soaring solos alongside Morten Løwe Sørensen's rhythmic thrust and Johan Andreassen's booming low-frequency assault. Elize Ryd's vocals are as emotive and empowering as ever, filling the room, while Jake E's melodic vocals are an outpouring of power. New screamer Henrik Englund Wilhelmsson puts his stamp on the material, as well.

The sound is both massive and addictive, from the unforgettable, driving sounds of "Drop Dead Cynical" to the anthemic title track to the stadium-sized soar of "Digital World" to the emotionally haunting power semi-ballad "True." MASSIVE ADDICTIVEis an exercise in dynamics and is one that refuses to play by any sort of genre-specific, prescribed rules.

"We have lived and breathed this album every hour and every day the last year, and to know that this music is about to reach everyone's ears is beyond exciting," guitarist Mörck enthused about MASSIVE ADDICTIVE. "Following the first leg of The Nexus World Tour, we sat down and agreed that we wanted the next album to be really fresh, new and even to raise a few eyebrows, all while retaining our signature sound."

He continued, "MASSIVE ADDICTIVE is in every way that huge leap forward we wanted to achieve and the album definitely contain our strongest song writing to date. The press often asks us to 'describe the album with three words'; this time, the answer is simple - it's MASSIVE, it's ADDICTIVE, and most importantly, it's AMARANTHE!"

I have loved WT:s music for almost ten years, so it will be an honour to support them. But most of all, we can't wait to see our amazing American fans again, and make a bunch of new ones!"

MARCH 12 2014
AMARANTHE have confirmed an autumn 2014 release date for their new studio album via Spinefarm Records; as yet untitled, this latest outing will be the follow-up to ‘Amaranthe’ (2011, now gold in Sweden) and ‘The Nexus’ (2013).

These two releases, which defined the band’s approach through their signature blend of musical styles and voices, caused an international stir right from the start; not only did ‘The Nexus’ top the rock chart in Sweden, but it went straight to # 1 on the US iTunes Metal Chart as well, whist the videos (from both albums) have continued to clock up millions of views (‘Hunger’, from Album 1, is now at the 6 million-plus mark).

The success of these records saw AMARANTHE playing to audiences all over the world, and now – following shows across Europe, including an appearance at the Bandit Awards in Stockholm where one of the band’s three singers, Elize Ryd, received the ‘Rock n’ Role Model’ Award – the six will head back into the studio.

According to guitarist, Olof Mörck:

“2014 will indeed see the release of the next Amaranthe record. We don't want to reveal any details yet, apart from this album representing a big step forward for Amaranthe musically – where ‘Amaranthe’ and ‘The Nexus’ were closely connected, this new album is bolder and more different... but, of course, with the trademark Amaranthe sound throughout! See you all on tour this spring with our last ‘Invincible’ shows - and expect blown minds in 2014!"

Olof's end of the year chronicle - 2013 in restrospect

Up until
sitting down and putting these words onto the page, 2013 seemed like another year of a myriad of experiences, all floating together into an undefinable mass. It is only when one starts to go through pictures, magazines, web page updates and so on that the picture becomes less obscured, and then it all hits you at once. We have had two great years before 2013 since the release of our debut album, with 2011 marking the beginning of AMARANTHE's official existence, but 2013 definitely stands out. However, personal experiences are notoriously hard to convey through mere words, so let's start of with some basic statistics to paint a rough picture;
1 full length album released
3 singles released
3 videos released
74 shows played
200 days of traveling
10 million YouTube plays
10 million Spotify plays
2 official top-ten national album chart positions
2 gold albums received
14 summer festivals played
2 trips to Russia
1 headline tour in the USA
1 co-headline tour in Europe
Merry figures and numbers, but they don't make much of a story, so let's take it from the start;
2013 started on a high note with the release of 'The Nexus' single and video, something which was both exciting and frightening at the same time. After two years of touring we had grown very accustomed to frequent touring and the general life of a musician. A weak second album, supported by a weak second single could quickly and firmly have ended our careers with AMARANTHE, so with great anticipation we followed the release and the initial reactions - and people did not all seem to hate it, to our great relief! Actually, the great majority seemed to embrace it, and we could breathe a sigh of relief and happily look forward to another couple of years of crazy traveling to and fro, doing what we love the most.
No. 1 one the Swedish charts!

The full-length 'THE NEXUS' album was released in March in conjunction with the start of our epic 'THE NEXUS WORLD TOUR', and we kicked it off in Helsinki, Finland. It was to be the first show in a 9-show trek throughout the country, and we were undoubtedly pleased to see so many jolly Finns turning up for each show! Almost as importantly; AMARANTHE got to indulge in one of our favourite post-show activities - extreme sauna bathing!

'THE NEXUS' world tour kicks off in Helsinki

Following our Finnish kick-off of our world tour, we got a lovely one day off in Gothenburg, which we off course happily spent playing an acoustic show and receiving our very first gold album, for our first single, 'Hunger'! I guess we could have used the sleep, but nothing can pull you out of bed like a gold record.
Receiving our first gold album, for 'HUNGER', in March

And now, the time had come to kick the touring into high gear, by joining our friends in STRATOVARIUS for a co-headline tour, supported by the lovely yanks in SEVEN KINGDOMS. We visited many familiar places, but also saw a bunch of new ones, and most importantly; we discovered that there were a bunch more AMARANTHE fans across Europe than we had dared to expect - we are still grateful for the overall amazing response from you guys! In between the shows we had a great time listening to stories from uncle Jens Johansson about the fabled savage 1980's, and kicking back watching Lars von Trier movies. The whole tour is best summarized by the lovely impromtu cover seen below;
Without more than a few days pause, we were ready to conquer new territory; ol' mother Russia! Here we had absolutely no idea what to expect, since album sales in Russia are, well, problematic for most bands. But that didn't stop the lovely Russians from turning up by the thousand, and the show in Moscow was surely on of the highlights of the year for me personally. We got to experience some of the most remarkable things about Russia during our stay, such as the red square, the Winter Palace and just taking a stroll down Nevsky Prospekt - awesome!
Red Square, Moscow, in April

Next up; JAPAN! We always have a mighty fine time over there, and Japan is undoubtedly our main market. We got to play two headline shows in a row in Tokyo, and then ride the Shinkansen to visit Osaka for the first time (and my first time there in 10 years!). The treatment was as royal as it always is in Japan, and the lovely fans always shower you with numerous and peculiar gifts.
At the legendary Rock-Rock bar in Osaka, Japan, in May

At the point of our return from Japan the festival season was just about to kick into high gear, with Sweden Rock festival, our first for the year. Every festival season always hold a special place in my heart, since you get to play in front of massive audiences, meet a ton of bands you might or might not have seen for years, and you get to convert a bunch of non-believers into hard core Amaranthines! We played some of the biggest metal festivals on the planet, such as Nova Rock, Graspop, Tuska Open Air and so on. Doing both Graspop and Tuska in one weekend was a blast, and to my opinion, our Graspop show was probably our best in the whole year, from the band's perspective.
Tuska Open Air, Finland, June

Right in the middle of the festival season, we embarked on our greatest adventure of the year; our first tour in the USA! We timed it perfectly with those weeks being the warmest of the whole year - you have not experienced true warmth until you have recorded a music video in leather pants in the middle of the Nevada desert! Once again, since this was uncharted AMARANTHE territory, we did not know what to expect from the shows, and you lovely yanks did not let us down - especially the shows in New York and Los Angeles were truly memorable. We will back back soon, you can count on that!
At the strip in Las Vegas, USA, July

Right after the USA, we played another bunch of festivals in Sweden, Transylvania, Finland and other various places, and then it just hits you - You're HOME. The first few days are of course lovely, but all of a sudden, there are no loud noise around you, no shouting people, no crazy awesome Japanese fans and no places to go sight-seeing. This is of course more than well compensated by hanging with family and friends, but the longing and the urge is always there. We spent the remainder of the year working on a SECRET PROJECT for all of you to look out for in 2014, while playing a few occasional shows to not lose our edge. We also recieved a second gold album for our second single 'Amaranthine'! We ended our amazing 2013 in Russia, playing there for the second time this year. The final show of the entire year, in Moscow, managed to once again be one of the very best, and it is best summed up in the picture below!
On stage in Moscow, December

In 2013 we also got to welcome a new member into the AMARANTHE family, as Andy stepped down due to personal reasons; Mr Henrik Englund! As you can see in the picture, we bought our new growler at a Wingnuts joint in Salt Lake city. Or maybe not!

Take out growlers! Perfect!
It is, as previously stated, always sad to see another great year pass into memory, but it is only mere days until we kick off our 2014 with our first show for the year, in our very hometown, Gothenburg! It is to be followed by an intense and very exciting year, such as embarking on our very first European headlining tour! See you all throughout the world in 2014! Happy new year to all our lovely friends and fans, and most important of all - THANK YOU! None of this would be possible without you.
Much love,
Olof & Amaranthe

'INVINCIBLE' video out now!

 'INVINCIBLE' video out NOW!

The third single from AMARANTHE's sophomore album, 'THE NEXUS', is out now, accompanied by a video directed by Patric Ullaeus. The video was shot on location in Hollywood, Las Vegas, the Nevada desert & the Grand Canyon, amongst other locations, and it’s certainly the most ambitious AMARANTHE clip to date.

Comments guitarist Olof Mörck:

“‘INVINCIBLE' is probably my favourite AMARANTHE song so far, and it’s very exciting to see it finally becoming a single and a video! We had an absolute blast shooting it, and this time we flew in Patric Ullaeus and his crew to some kick-ass locations around the USA. People have come to expect elaborate videos from AMARANTHE, but this one certainly takes the cake!"

OCTOBER 18 2013
Andy steps down as screamer in AMARANTHE, replacement Henrik Englund announced!
After long and careful consideration Andy has chosen to step down as the growl vocalist in Amaranthe. His reasons are personal and best expressed in his own statement further down. However, the split is completely amicable and friendly, and not the result of any hard feelings. Andy has been a brother through the last two and a half years of craziness since the release of our debut album, and he will always be a central part to the Amaranthe family - not to mention a fantastic screamer indeed. We wish him all the best possible luck with his future endeavors.

But, as they say, life goes on! We in Amaranthe are not planning to slow down one bit, and now is the time to welcome a new member into the Amaranthe family! Many of you have already seen and met Henrik Englund Wilhelmsson (SCARPOINT), who was filling in for Andy on our latest European and American tour! Henrik has great stage presence, tons of charisma and a great voice, and has already proven up to the extremely high standard we always strive for with Amaranthe.
Very awesome and exciting news are just around corner, so stay tuned! And we hope to see YOU in or close to your city in 2014!

Commented Andy:

"Time travels fast. There is so much in life to explore and time has come for me to move on and see what more is out there for me. We´ve been through a lot the last five years, had our ups and downs, travelling the world back and forth, playing arena shows, doing tons and tons of gigs, gotten gold records and all this in just two albums. Totally amazing, and I´m really glad and humble to have had the chance to experience all this. Now when I choose to move on I want to take the opportunity to thank the guys in the band for all the good times and all the memories. And of course all the fans out there. You are, and always will be, in my heart. Hope to see you guys out there again in a not to distant future."

AMARANTHE to record new album!

Sweden's modern melodical metal sensation will enter the studio in September 24th to record their sophomore albu
m, the follow-up to 2011's 'AMARANTHE', their wildy successful debut album - which charted in a number of countries and took them on the road across the world. AMARANTHE went from newcomer to seasoned live veterans with over a hundred shows, they became the most played rock band on Swedish rock radio and won the prestigious "breakthrough of the year award" at the Bandit awards. The last few shows on their first touring cycle included the world's biggest rock festival Wacken Open Air, and a hometown headline show which both had audiences of 10 000+. For ther next album they will once more work with producer Jacob Hansen, in his Hansen studios in Ribe Denmark. The as of yet untitled album will be tentatively out in early 2013.

Commented guitarist Olof Mörck:
"So it is finally revelation time! In between our constant and never-ending touring we have tirelessly been working on our next album, which is really starting to come together. We have lived and breathed the same 12 songs from the first album every day for a year now, and to introduce a number of completely fresh tracks will really lift Amaranthe to the next level! The theme and atmosphere of the album is futuristic and ultra modern, something underlined by the first teaser poster. The music itself will be instantly recognisable as AMARANTHE, but there is definitely a new and unique twist to the songs. People often ask us if there is a big pressure to follow up such a successful album, and always say "no, not one bit". Not when you sit down and listen to new tracks such as 'Invincible', 'Burn with Me' and 'Stardust'. We simply cannot wait to hit the road all over the world with these new babies!"
